Its purpose is to enable students to refine their thesis topics, to develop the theoretical and methodological framework for their study, and to elaborate a plan of research. Typically undertaken after the coursework is finished, the tutorial prepares students to undertake their comprehensive examinations and to write their thesis proposals. At some universities, the thesis proposal is configured as part of the research tutorial.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Specific course requirements for the research tutorial vary by institution.
