{"id":9632,"date":"2025-06-24T17:55:23","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T21:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/docinterhar.ca\/?p=9632"},"modified":"2025-06-24T18:22:49","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T22:22:49","slug":"symposium-queer-encounters-from-the-south","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/docinterhar.ca\/en\/2025\/06\/24\/symposium-queer-encounters-from-the-south\/","title":{"rendered":"International Symposium: Queer Encounters from the South \/ Simposio internacional: Encuentros cuir desde el sur"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On June 30 and July 1, the Faculty of Arts at Udelar will host an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artes.udelar.edu.uy\/actividad\/30-06-simposio-internacional-encuentros-cuir-desde-el-sur\/\">international symposium<\/a> bringing together Brazilian artists Bento Ben Leite, Hermano Luz, Pav\u00e3o, Rafa Bqueer, and Rodrigo D&#8217;Alc\u00e2ntara, along with curator Ulisses Carrilho and special guest, Uruguayan artist and activist Sof\u00eda Saunier. The event invites collective reflection on dissidence, imaginaries, and plural sexualities in contemporary Latin American art.<br><br>The group will be in artistic residency at the Contemporary Art Space (EAC)&nbsp;from June 27 to July 10, and will actively participate in the symposium activities, co-organized by Francesca Casariego, Maria-Jos\u00e9 Apeztegu\u00eda (Faculty of Arts, Udelar, Montevideo, UY), and Rodrigo D&#8217;Alc\u00e2ntara (Department of Art History, Concordia University, Montreal, CA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This symposium is part of the programming linked to the exhibition &#8220;amig_s imaginari_s&#8221;, which will open on July 11 at the EAC and remain open to the public until August 30, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event has been made possible through the generous support of the Concordia University Awards: the John O\u2019Brian Research Travel Award 2025&nbsp;and the Concordia Exposition and Conference Allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Image: Imagem: 3D model of Uhura Bqueer in Sinfonia Lunatique.
