Institutions culturelles cl\u00e9s, ils occupent une place souvent d\u00e9licate au carrefour des arts, de la culture, des diff\u00e9rents ordres de gouvernement, des entreprises et du public. De ce fait, les mus\u00e9es sont la cible d&#039;actions politiques, mais peuvent aussi soutenir des politiques controvers\u00e9es. Bien que les manifestations dans les mus\u00e9es soient peu \u00e9tudi\u00e9es, elles sont loin d&#039;\u00eatre exceptionnelles.
